Chinook engines for Honeywell

Honeywell International Inc has won a $121 million contract from the US army for 147 T55 engines and 136 engine ‘fielding kits’ for its Chinook helicopter, with the potential for an additional 293 engines and 229 engine ‘fielding kits’ by 2018. The engines will be manufactured at its facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
Honeywell’s T55 has been the main engine powering the army’s CH-47 Chinook helicopter since its introduction in the 1960s. To date, more than 6,000 T55 engines have been produced, running up more than 12 million hr of operation on the Chinook. The CH-47 is expected to
remain in service beyond 2030.
