Worksop-based Chalice Medical, which makes equipment that is used in heart surgery, is to create 28 jobs after receiving £487,500 from the D2N2 LEP’s Unlocking Investment for Growth programme.
As a result, the company was able to proceed with its £1.95 million move to 25,000 sq ft premises at Manton Wood Enterprise Park. Its new site is almost three times the size of its previous premises in the former Nottinghamshire pit village of Shireoaks.
Chalice is also investing in new machinery to establish an in-house R&D and engineering workshop.
The project will create 28 jobs to add to the 49 people already employed full-time. The company has been making cardiac-surgery equipment since 2000, and its product range has expanded from surgical instruments and disposable products to heart/lung machines.
Managing director Philip Bousfield said: “While the grant process was very competitive and rigorous, we are very pleased to have been successful in getting the funding to enable our expansion and enhance our exporting capabilities.”
