Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 in new technology and creating six new jobs. The company, which is the composite pipe manufacturing division of Silotank, says that ‘state of the art’ specialised pipe-manufacturing equipment is needed to target further business opportunities.
Managing director Seamus Carmichael (pictured right with Invest NI's Kevin McCann) said: “We have experienced sales growth for our glass-reinforced plastic pipe in recent years, specifically from hydro-electric developers and wave-energy technology companies. This investment signals our on-going commitment to continuous innovation and our focus on positioning ourselves to compete in international markets.”
The company, which manufactures fibre-glass pipes from 600mm to 2,000mm in diameter and sells 96% of its output beyond Northern Ireland, was awarded £45,000 by Invest Northern Ireland to help with its expansion.
Mr Carmichael added: “The new pipe rectification and machining technology will ensure that we can achieve the volume, quality standards and cost structure required to target new business.
“Invest NI’s support — particularly with recruiting six new production operatives — will help us to drive forward our growth plans and capitalise on growing market opportunities across Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.”
