Confirming its status as a market leader in the field of metal-cutting machine tools, DMG Mori (www.dmgmori.com) will be launching seven new machines at EMO.

There are four world firsts in the field of turning, while the three new machining centre originate from the company’s fourth generation of DuoBlock machines.

The Sprint 32/5, which is designed for turning workpieces up to 32mm in diameter ¥ 600mm long, features five linear axes, a C axis for the main spindle, a sub-spindle, a twin-channel controller, and 22 tools on two independent carriers. Four driven tools undertake cross-machining applications at the main spindle. Options include an unloading device and 120-bar high-pressure coolant.

Meanwhile, the new Sprint 32/8 features three independent linear tool carriers (with space for 28 tools) for four-axis machining at the main spindle. There are six linear axes in total (including a second Y axis), and C axes can be specified for both the main spindle and the sub-spindle.

Also new on the turning front are two sizes of the CTX gamma TC turn-milling machines — the CTX gamma 1250 TC and CTX gamma 2000 TC. Compared with previous-generation machines, these feature higher spindle speeds, higher torque ratings and 50m/min traverse rates (60m/min for the Z axis featuring the optional linear drive). With a B axis, these two machines can undertake five-axis simultaneous machining; for four-axis production turning a lower turret can be specified (this accommodates up to 12 driven tools).

Designed to set new standards in the turn-mill machining of workpieces up to 920mm in diameter ¥ 2,000mm long, the NLX6000/2000 (shown above) offers high levels of rigidity for its drive trains, bed and guideways. This machine’s milling performance is attributable to the ‘BMT’ technology incorporated in its turret, which features a direct-drive motor (4,000rev/min) and a torque of 117Nm. A particular highlight of the machine is the availability of a range of application-oriented spindles.

Meanwhile, the world premieres in the Duo-Block model series include the DMC 100 U DuoBlock universal milling machine, along with the DMC 100 H DuoBlock and DMC 125 H DuoBlock horizontal machining centres. With these latter machines, the distance from the spindle to the centre of the table has been increased by 200mm, which means there is now room for tools up to 900mm long.

Also being demonstrated will be various models from the DMG Mori Wasino range of ultra-precise (0.2µm roundness) production lathes, plus the latest evolution of the EcoLine series of entry-level machines. (Hall 4)
