The Mazak (www.mazakeu.com) stand will include two new additions to its Smooth CNC family, along with 18 new machines making their world debut. The stand has seven zones, covering the disciplines of: multi-tasking; five-axis machining; turning; vertical machining; horizontal machining; hybrid technology and Smooth Technology.

The SmoothX five-axis control, which was launched earlier in 2015, will be joined by SmoothG. This was developed specifically for machines offering up to four-axis simultaneous control; it includes vertical and horizontal machining centres, as well as high-performance turning centres. Mazak will also launch SmoothC. This has been developed for entry-level machines; and while it has been streamlined for simplified operation, it retains the proven Mazatrol interface and conversational programming.

One of the stand highlights is likely to be the new Integrex 1-400AM. The AM stands for additive manufacturing, as this machine can generate near-net-shape components with its additive capabilities before finishing them with multi-tasking machining, which includes full five-axis working. Moreover, it can process a wide range of materials.
Featured in the five-axis zone will be the new Variaxis i-1050T, which combines five-axis working with a full turning capability, while in the turning zone will be a Quick Turn 250 MSY. This high-performance turning centre offers integrated milling, a second spindle and a Y-axis capability; it also incorporates Mazak’s SmoothG control. Also in the turning zone will be a Mega Turn 500M S, a vertical turning centre with milling capability and robot loading.

The highlight of the vertical machining zone will be the new VTC-760C, which is making its world debut. The latest generation of the popular VTC 300C II series, it features a new base structure, roller linear ways and SmoothG control. This zone will also feature a VTC 800/30 SLR, which incorporates a large rotary table for the five-axis machining of parts up to 1.5m in diameter.

Making its world debut in the horizontal zone will be the Horizontal Center 5000/50. Designed for high-volume machining, this features a 10,000rev/min 50-taper spindle and a high-speed tool changer (3.5sec chip to chip). (Hall 7, Stand E01/G01)
