Designed to offer an accurate and cost-effective method of measuring and inspecting small components, the Starrett VB300 is a compact profile projector that features a 300mm-diameter screen with cross-hairs, calibrations marks and overlay clips.
The unit, which has an integrated hood, features an all-metal construction for rigidity, accuracy and longevity. Flat parts up to 5kg can be accommodated on the 225 x 225mm work-stage, which features a 155 x 155mm toughened glass insert and 100 x 100mm of travel. A manual focus range of 100mm ensures every detail of the component being measured remains in sharp relief.
The VB300, which has been designed to allow engineers, technicians and operators to simply ‘plug and play’, comes as standard with an integral DRO system that allows X and Y linear-axis measurements and angular measurements to be made on the screen and read off an LED display.
Linear positional feedback comes from precision glass scales with a resolution of 0.001mm, while the digital protractor provides a resolution of 1min.
The option of Heidenhain or Metlogix geometric measurement systems provides increased functionality such as edge detection; these also support the functions of measuring, recording, analysing and reporting.
The VB300 also has a quick-action bay-onet fitting single-lens mounting that can accept a variety of lenses, including those with magnifications of 10x, 20x, 25x, 50x and 100x.
Surface and profile illumination comes from Starrett’s (
