A manufacturer of oxy/fuel, plasma and water-jet cutting machines, Kerf Developments Ltd, Rochdale (
www.kerfdevelopments.com), recently introduced its Plasmaster 3015, an entry-level plasma machine and alternative to refurbished second-hand equipment.
Sales director Craig Walsh said: “Until now, the void between entry-level machines and our entry-level (RUR) high-definition plasma cutting machines has been filled partly by our own second-hand machines, which we have refurbished. However, we are conscious of the needs of manufacturers — especially in smaller businesses — that are looking for a cost-effective solution.
"Many entry-level machines have been designed and developed for the hobbyist or educational markets, but with the new Plasmaster, the target end users range from those wanting to cut thin materials such as ductwork through to fabricators needing to cut thicker materials.”
The bed of the Plasmaster machine comprises a heavy-duty plate-support system containing individual dross bins that can be easily accessed to remove waste material. It can support plates up to 3 x 1.5m and up to 25mm thick.
“When we developed the latest Plasmaster machine, our aim was to use products from leading global suppliers. These included the proven Burny control and drive system with Smart HC ‘intelligent’ height control, and we complement this with a proven machine frame.
"We have used linear bearings for the X, Y and Z axes to ensure a smooth cutting motion, good cut quality and high levels of positional accuracy and repeatability.”
