The new CoroMill 316 generation of exchangeable-head milling cutters from Halesowen-based Sandvik Coromant (
www.sandvik.coromant.com) is aimed at machining operations in steel and stainless-steel materials.
Among the principal enhancements is a longer cutting length, which benefits operations that demand higher axial depth — up to 1.2 x D — as well as where high stability and vibration suppression are required.
CoroMill 316 is suitable for high-feed face milling, slot milling, helical interpolation, shoulder milling, profile milling and chamfer milling.
The exchangeable heads allow users to switch between various operations, creating end mills with different radii, teeth frequency, geometries and grades. As well as steel and stainless steel, the tools can also be used on cast iron and heat-resistant super alloys, says the company.
