Alstom (
www.alstom.com) unveiled its new CLever cantilever for the UK rail network at
Railtex, the international exhibition of rail equipment, systems and services, which was held in Birmingham last month.
Alstom says that CLever is an innovative cantilever for main-line railway, offering a high level of adjustability, as well as ease of installation and maintenance.
It is designed for 25kV railway electrification and delivers “reliable performance for speeds up to 300kph”. It is compatible with Network Rail’s Series 2 and Master Series range of electrification equipment.
Steve Cox, engineering and technical director, Alstom UK & Ireland, said: “This solution is more affordable and safer than conventional ones.
“With electrification continuing to be a priority for the UK network, CLever’s high adjustability, easy installation, reduced weight and easy maintenance, means it can play an important role in achieving our electrification targets.”
