Rosenbauer UK has supplied two fire appliances to NATO in Afghanistan, in a £1.1 million deal. The two 6 x 6 Panther fire trucks were transported to Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport by the world’s largest operational cargo jet — an Antonov AN-225.
Oliver North, Rosenbauer UK’s (
www.rosenbauer.co.uk) managing director, said: “I served in the Royal Engineers for just over seven years, so it’s a hugely proud moment for me to provide NATO with the best product in our line-up — the Rosenbauer Panther — to watch over Kabul’s airport.”
The 39-tonne trucks are capable of reaching 80kph within 36 seconds — a demanding requirement for such a large machine.
They can each carry 11,000 litres of water and can deliver 9,000 litres of water and/or foam per min.
This deal was one of 11 contracts that Rosenbauer secured from the airport industry in 2017, giving it a 100% contract win rate in the aviation tender field.
