Fabrication firm doubles turnover in three yearsSheffield-based SevenHills Fabrication Ltd has more than doubled its turnover to £3.5 million in three years and has invested £1 million in plant and technology.

This is equivalent to 31% year-on-year growth, with current-year growth running at 64%.

This contributed to its parent company Steetley Corner Group’s recording a turnover of £8.5 million for the year, growing at 48%.

James Harding-Terry, Steetley Corner Group managing director (pictured), said: “SevenHills Fabrication is the group company that we identified as having excellent growth potential, and we are delighted that inward investment is paying off.”

After commissioning a £550,000 laser cutter in 2017, SevenHills (www.sevenhillsfabrication.com), which traces its history back to 1926, has recently installed a £60,000 electric tube-bending machine and a £250,000 computer system.

The company employs 45 people on the shopfloor (including eight apprentices) and serves a range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, construction, oil and gas and renewables.

It also works within the supply chain for both Tesco and Heathrow Airport.

Mr Harding-Terry added: “Making the transition to industry 4.0 is essential for future-proofing the business; the new
computer system allows full mapping of production, accounting, purchasing and distribution.

“Operating in conjunction with new machines such as the tube bender and our forthcoming £350,000 investment in a robot welder and a Bystronic press brake, the computer system will also help to up-skill our workforce, so that it can adapt to Industry 4.0 methods.

“All of these advancements mean that our output is more efficient, quality and complexity of product is higher and our overheads are reduced, which is clearly being reflected in our bottom line, in conjunction with contract wins and diversification into emerging markets.”
