Rapid growth at Poole firmPoole-based defence company Aish Technologies Ltd (www.aishtechnologies.com) has announced a 25% expansion of its engineering team after winning a number of contracts and intends to recruit more people over the next few months.

The advanced-systems specialist has recently secured contracts from MBDA, BAE Combat Systems and an unnamed overseas contractor.

Managing director Lloyd Bates said: “The expansion of our engineering team is a positive step towards the continued development of Aish Technologies, and it allows us to offer increased capability to our customers.

It is rare to find such a comprehensive manufacturing solution in the defence market; we can design, test, fabricate and assemble in-house.”

The company specialises in the protection of electronic equipment in harsh environments.

It currently has more than 40 specialist engineers working in its technology centre; there are job opportunities for mechanical, electrical, electronic and software engineers.

Aish Technologies is involved in the Shared Infrastructure project, which establishes common technology architecture across several Royal Navy warships — it allows access to software, from navigation to sonar, through a single console.

BAE Systems, which developed the Shared Infrastructure platform, approached Aish Technologies to supply the rugged metal enclosures that house the operational equipment.

Mr Bates added: “It was a challenging 12 months last year. I am delighted to see the company come through this period and continue to offer UK manufacturing jobs to in local area.”
