Third-generation 3-D printers for productionStratasys (www.stratasys.com) has introduced its F900 3-D printer for production — the third generation of its flagship FDM (fused deposition modelling) system.

Features include an MTConnect-ready interface with production-ready accuracy and repeatability.

The F900, which is based on the Fortus 900mc platform, is available in three formats: the F900, the F900 AICS (Aircraft Interiors Certification Solution) and the F900 Pro.

The F900 AICS is said to be a first-of-its-kind solution delivering the performance and traceability required for flight-worthy parts, while the F900 Pro is a production-grade system ready to manufacture parts with high FDM repeatability and performance in ULTEM 9085 resin.

Owners of existing Fortus 900mc systems can upgrade to any of the three current F900 systems.

In another piece of product news, Stratasys says it is currently developing a system that will offer compatibility with carbon-fibre composite materials.

The Fortus 380 CF, which is expected to be available by the third quarter of this year, will be able to print the company’s proprietary Carbon Fiber Filled Nylon 12.
