'Making waves' in JapanEdinburgh-based Atlantis Resources has entered into a collaboration agreement with Nagasaki University to investigate the feasibility of tidal power generation at a number of sites around the Goto Islands in Japan (www.atlantisresourcesltd.com).

They will endeavour to determine the potential capacity of a number of scenarios — and the cost of the energy that would be produced.

Tim Cornelius, CEO of Atlantis Resources, said: “This collaboration will help decision-makers to implement the policy required to move the tidal-power sector forward in Japan.

“We are delighted to bring our operational experience from the MeyGen project to Japan to facilitate the accelerated development of the sector.

“Now operating autonomously with 6MW of installed capacity, the MeyGen project can serve as a catalyst, allowing Japan to move forward with the deployment of commercial-scale devices and benefit from the years of R&D undertaken in Europe.”
