3rd Generation machining centre Coventry-based DMG Mori UK Ltd (www.dmgmori.com) was showing its DMU 50 3rd Generation machining centre for five-sided to five-axis simultaneous operation.

This latest model features an extended swivel range, a more powerful spindle and “innovative cooling”, with areas of
application ranging from training to general mechanical engineering and fixture production, as well as work in demanding industries such as aerospace, medical and automotive.

It has a work envelope of 650 x 520 x 475mm, accommodates workpiece weights of up to 300kg, and has a swivelling rotary table with a swivel range from -35 to +110deg.

The rapid-traverse rate is 42m/min for the linear axes and 30rev/min for the rotary axes.

Instead of the 15,000rev/min SpeedMaster spindle, there is a choice of spindles offering speeds up to a 20,000rev/min. The DMU 50 3rd Generation machine at MACH was an automated version with a PH 150 pallet-handling system.
