New Okuma M460V-5AX VMC

#MACH2018 New from NCMT Ltd (www.ncmt.co.uk) was the Okuma M460V-5AX vertical machining centre — the latest model in the Genos series and the first five-axis machine in this range.

The hypoid-gear-driven trunnion with rotary table and five-axis simultaneous control gives the machine the ability to cut even the most complex of components in a variety of materials without sacrificing dimensional accuracy, finish quality or productivity.

The machine has a work envelope of 762 x 460 x 460mm, a 22kW 15,000rev/min BT40 spindle, and a 32-position tool magazine is provided. Control is via an OSP CNC system.

Also included is Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly Concept, which is applied to both the machine structure and the spindle. Tests have shown thermal deviation to be less than 10µm over a 24hr period, despite a variation in ambient temperature of 8°C.
