MACH MT unveils new lathes and VMCs Bristol-based Mach Machine Tools Ltd (www.machmt.co.uk) launched what it describes as a range of “best in class” CNC lathes and machining centres at MACH 2018.

The 8in-chuck Mach S-202 is a two-axis CNC lathe with a 45deg one-piece base and bed construction, a 400mm turning length and a 15kW 5,000rev/min spindle with a 52mm bore.

Included as standard is a programmable tailstock, parts catcher and swarf conveyor; customers can specify either a Fanuc 0i-TD or Siemens 828D control with ShopTurn software.

There is also an SL-203B model with a larger capacity, a C axis and driven tooling.

Also launched at the show was the Mach 710MM+, a three-axis vertical machining centre with a work envelope of 710 x 400 x 450mm and a direct-drive 13kW 10,000-24,000rev/min BBT40 spindle.

This machine has a 24-position side-mounted ATC, 48m/min rapids and roller linear guideways. A Fanuc 0i-TD CNC or Siemens 828D control with ShopMill software can be supplied.

There is also a heavy-duty model available — the 1062-HD. This has a larger working envelope (1,020 x 625 x 610mm), an 18.5kW spindle drive and large-capacity linear roller guides.

Both the S-202 CNC lathe and 710MM+ machining centre were shown with the Fanuc control, which is offered as standard with the latest Fanuc 10.4in console and AICC-ii high-speed block-processing look-ahead facility; a Siemens 828D simulator on the stand allowed visitors to see this control option (the Siemens CNC, which is available as standard on these machines, is the ‘full version’ of the 828D — complete with either ShopTurn or ShopMill software).

The exhibition also saw the launch of Mach Machine Tools’ ‘teach type’ CNC system.

Designed for the Mach VS-1 turret mill, this three-axis system (to accommodate the quill-mounted Z axis) offers a fully conversational and G-code-ready platform.

The customer service initiatives unveiled at the show included a rental scheme (allowing manufactures to hire a new Mach machine for 12, 24 or 36 months) and a Mach VS-1 spare and wear parts facility.
