Mikron Mill P 500U on display

#MACH2018 On show at this year's MACH was the Mikron Mill P 500U from Coventry-based GF Machining Solutions Ltd (www.gfms.com/uk), a simultaneous five-axis machining centre that features a thermo-stable and symmetrical design, 1.7g acceleration, and a 36kW Step-Tec motor spindle. Direct angle-measurement systems are mounted on the machine’s rotary and tilting axes.

Also displayed was the Mikron HSM 200U LP five-axis machining centre, which is aimed at the machining of small complex components, such as medical implants and other similarly detailed parts.

It features linear motors in the main machine axes and direct-drive motors for the B and C axes. Surface finishes down to Ra 0.05µm can be achieved.
