JJ Churchill reveals long-term contract Leicestershire-based JJ Churchill (www.jjchurchill.com) announced at the recent Farnborough International Airshow that it has signed a contract exceeding £70 million with Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace for the supply of turbine blades on a 10-year programme.

Executive chairman Andrew Churchill said: “To continue our activity with Rolls-Royce — a giant in the global aerospace industry — is a fantastic endorsement of the high-quality precision engineering work that we deliver, day in day out.

“The whole team is looking forward to continuing to supply precision-machined blades.”

JJ Churchill has made significant operational improvements over the past year, and it continues to invest heavily in its equipment and people.

One example of this is reducing fixture tooling costs by 5%, with an additional 50% reduction in the number of machining operations per part number, largely due to the introduction of Blue Photon adhesive work-holding technology.

Alongside this, the company has reduced the time to prepare fixtures by 70% within its CMM quality inspection process, reducing the associated costs by 50% via 3-D printing.

Now celebrating its 80th year and based in Market Bosworth, JJ Churchill employs 150 people.

In addition to manufacturing high-precision gas turbine components for the aerospace industry, it makes high-precision components and assemblies for high-power diesel engines.
