Alloy Wire International focuses on China Black Country-based Alloy Wire International (AWI) has stepped up its expansion in the Far East by recently exhibiting at Wire China for the first time, as it looks to increase its international order book.

The company, which supplies more than 60 different high-performance alloys to clients in the automotive, aerospace, oil and gas and nuclear sectors, has already spent a six-figure sum to establish itself in the Japanese market and recently attended an exhibition in Tokyo, showcasing its products to an audience of nearly 90,000 people (www.alloywire.com).

That was a major success, with lots of new enquiries taken and a foothold now established, paving the way for a sales push that could generate new contracts worth £250,000 over the next 18 months.

The firm is now looking for similar success in the Chinese market, as well as other markets outside the European Union with high growth potential, such as the USA and India.

Sales executive Tom Mander said: “The Far East is a massive growth area for our business, with more Chinese manufacturers looking to improve the quality of their products, which naturally starts with the material.

"We manufacture to the highest-possible quality standards on all of our round, flat and shaped wire and now have more than 60 different alloys available at any one time.

"When you combine this with our delivery performance, it’s not hard to see why an increasing number of customers are using us.

"These range from automotive and aerospace suppliers to spring makers and specialists in oil and gas.”
