CoMech on track with Bowers quality solutions

CoMech on track with Bowers quality solutionsDerby-based CoMech Metrology (www.comech.co.uk) — a specialist in the calibration, design, manufacture and supply of safety-critical measurement equipment to the rail sector and others — has invested in a range of measurement solutions from Bowers Group (www.bowersgroup.co.uk).

Reducing the turnround time of calibration services was a high priority, so Bowers provided CoMech with a Trimos V4 700 height gauge to help with the measurement of bespoke rail gauges.

Hannah Jones, technical development engineer at CoMech, said: “We use the Trimos height gauge every day. It’s a
simple process, but it can also be used for more-complex measurements, and there are so many useful features.”

Bowers also supplied a Sylvac M3 dial gauge calibrator, which is suitable for testing dial gauges, plunger type and
test indicators, and a Baty R14 FT2-E profile projector, which has improved the inspection of wheel profile gauges.

“The Baty profile projector is efficient and straightforward to use. Not only does it mean that we can carry out more measurements, its Baty Fusion software means that overlays are no longer needed, which is a massive time-saver.”

CoMech has one of the largest stocks of heritage rail gauges in the UK, and its extensive knowledge of the rail industry is a result of working with some of the world’s leading rail companies. It has a fully equipped specialist laboratory plus on-site inspection equipment.
