A year-on-year increase in turnover of more than 25%, combined with a growing product portfolio, necessitated Burlescombe-based XYZ Machine Tools (

The addition of another 25,000ft
2 of space will allow more machines to be prepared for installation at any given time (every machine undergoes 168hr of testing), while maintaining XYZ’s commitment to on-time machine deliveries to its customers.
Managing director Nigel Atherton says the XYZ Machine Tools range now encompasses over 50 models and their variants; and with customer demand for any one of these being up to 10 units a month, holding sufficient stock is vital.
“We maintain a stock of over 350 machines at our Devon headquarters, covering the full range of machines from an XYZ bandsaw through to the UMC-5X simultaneous five-axis machining centre.
"With the increase in demand that we have seen in 2018 and growth predicted to continue into 2019, the additional floor space will help us to meet that demand.”
Machine stock at XYZ Machine Tools comprises machines ‘in build’ and those under test prior to delivery — a process that involves extensive machine running and checks (including Renishaw Ballbar tests) to ensure that all machines meet stringent quality and accuracy requirements.
Mr Atherton added: “We have developed a reputation for delivering on time and to exacting standards of machine quality.
“The additional space will ensure that this high standard of service and delivery capability is maintained.”
