Kingspan installs a 900kW wind turbine

North Wales-based Kingspan (www.kingspan.com), which manufactures industrial insulation products, has installed an EWT DW52 900kW wind turbine at its Holywell factory to help it become a ‘net zero-energy’ company by 2020.

When the factory is at operating at full capacity, 90% of the power produced by the turbine will be consumed on-site. At quieter times, when the turbine is producing more power than needed, Kingspan will feed the excess into the national grid.

To fund the development and construction of the wind turbine, Kingspan agreed a long-term energy supply contract with Sirius Renewables Group.
