‘New look’ Clamason Industries to build on salesKingswinford-based Clamason Industries, a leading manufacturer of precision pressings and stampings, saw orders hit £30 million in 2018 for the first time in its 70-year history, and the company is now embarking on a three-year expansion plan.

Growth is expected to come from its global client base in the automotive, medical, assisted-living and industrial products sectors, with the latter covering anything from telecoms and power distribution products to electric bikes.

Supporting these expansion plans is a £1.1 million investment in new presses, an enhanced technical cleaning capability and the launch of a new corporate identity — together with a new Web site and digital media campaign.

Managing director Neil Geoghegan said (www.clamason.com): “We have had huge success in doing things differently and challenging clients to change their thinking around component design.

“Our approach is to start working with customers early, to see if our ability to design for manufacture and produce precision parts could solve production bottlenecks.

“For example, we have achieved major success by redesigning aluminium castings to be suitable for pressing, saving our clients time and money.”

He continued: “Investment in the latest press technology and ‘intelligent’ tooling means we’ve got dozens of other examples, including offering one firm a way of on-shoring its components from China.

"Since 2015, we have added £12.5 million of revenue, and this is just the start; our facilities in Kingswinford and Slovakia give us a global footprint that will help us attract more customers, and in turn contribute to
our expansion plans.”

Clamason Industries, which holds IATF 16949 and ISO 13485 quality accreditations for the automotive and medical sectors, employs 290 people at its two plants, where the on-going installation of automation is shortening lead times and allowing an increasing use of lights-out manufacturing.
