Wolverhampton-based Tungaloy UK Ltd (
www.tungaloy.com/uk) has expanded its TungCut Series of multi-functional grooving tools with the introduction of the new AH7025 universal PVD grade, the DTM-style chip-breaker and a new insert-clamping mechanism designed to improve insert rigidity during machining.
This enhanced rigidity increases insert life and stability when undertaking a wide range of grooving applications on machines ranging from compact Swiss-type lathes through to heavy-duty CNC turning centres.
Tungaloy says the AH7025 insert grade is its first choice for grooving applications.
It features a ‘high-aluminium-content multi-layered Nano PVD coating’ with strong coating adhesion and a carbide substrate that has been developed to offer high levels of fracture toughness, as well as resistance to wear and chipping when machining steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and heat-resistant super-alloys.
The new DTM-style chip-breaker has a ‘multi-functional geometry’ designed to create a smooth chip flow in both grooving and turning operations, including: external, internal and face grooving; parting off; external facing;
and profiling.
The combination of the DTM chip-breaker and the AH7025 insert grade has seen a total of 22 items added to Tungaloy’s turning, parting off and grooving portfolio.
Meanwhile, the Tungaloy range of Drill-Meister indexable-head drills has been extended to include the latest DMC-style drill head, with a self-centring geometry and a new coating grade.
The new tool allows fast drill-head indexing, thanks to a self-clamping mechanism that eliminates the need to remove the drill body from the spindle for tool changeovers or the re-adjustment of the tool overhang, improving machine up-time and productivity.
The new DMC drill head incorporates a centre-point chisel-edge geometry that ensures an accurate hole diameter and circularity.
In addition,the drill head features a double-margin design that stabilises the drill during the drilling processes, improving the hole surface finish, straightness and precision.
It also eliminates the need for pre-spotting or pecking cycles The DrillMeister DMC is available with Tungaloy’s AH9130 insert grade and a ‘next generation’ coating that has been specifically formulated for drilling applications; it provides an optimal combination of resistance to physical and chemical stresses such as wear, fracture, oxidation, built-up edge and de-lamination.
The new DrillMeister DMC drill head is available in diameters from 10 to 19.9mm (in increments of 0.1mm) for hole-making operations up to 12xD.
