Manufacturing-operations solutions from Siemens

Manufacturing-operations solutions from SiemensSiemens Digital Industries Software recently launched its Siemens Opcenter, a range of software solutions for manufacturing-operations management (MOM) that expands on the company’s recognised MOM software by ‘uniting’ these products in a single cloud-ready portfolio designed to optimise production efficiency, quality and visibility, while also reducing the time to production (www.siemens.com/opcenter).

Siemens Opcenter integrates MOM capabilities including: advanced planning and scheduling; manufacturing execution; quality management; manufacturing intelligence and performance; and formulation, specification and laboratory management.

The new portfolio combines several products — such as Camstar software, the Simatic IT Suite, Preactor, the R&D Suite and QMS Professional — into a single system that unifies these widely recognised products and “leverages synergies between them”.

Siemens Opcenter has been configured to make it easy to deploy, configure, extend and integrate with other systems across the ‘value chain’, including product lifecycle management (PLM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and shopfloor automation solutions.

It provides end-to-end visibility into production, helping to identify areas for improvement within product design and associated manufacturing processes.

The entire portfolio is cloud-ready and can be deployed on-premise, in ‘the cloud’ or in combination, providing for potential IT cost reductions and flexible scalability.

In conclusion, the company says: “Siemens Opcenter uniquely supports the digital enterprise, leveraging the ‘digital twins’ for design, production, and performance.”
