EMO 2019 — Smart technologies and innovations The EMO international machine tool and manufacturing technology exhibition — the world’s leading metal-working trade show — will once again return to the German city of Hanover from 16 to 21 September 2019. Around 2,000 exhibitors (with over half coming from outside Germany) will showcase their products and technologies to over 130,000 visitors.

The 22nd EMO will provide an unrivalled platform for innovative solutions, industrial applications and future technologies in the metal-working arena.

EMO general commissioner Carl-Martin Welcker said: “It includes the entire international production technology value chain, covering everything from cut-to-length machines to cylinder saws; that’s what makes it so attractive.”

The theme of EMO 2019 will be “Smart technologies driving tomorrow's production!” This shifts the focus onto the development and implementation of new Industry 4.0 functions.

The special ‘IoT (Internet of Things) in production’ exhibition, for example, will present a range of solutions — from individual machines to cloud-based systems.

The theme will also be highlighted in a new area for individual control technology, software and automation technology exhibitors.

EMO will also showcase the latest developments in the full range of metal-working machining processes, from additive manufacturing through to metal cutting.

Mr Welcker said: “Beyond networking and software-controlled production processes, the industry is still very much about metal-working hardware.

“Workpieces still have to be processed to create an end product, and EMO will showcase the full spectrum of equipment.”

The exhibition is aimed at international customers from the entire metal-working and processing sectors, including the automotive and parts supply, mechanical and plant engineering, electrical and aerospace industries, plus fields such as medical technology and many others.

In addition to the wide range of exhibitors, EMO 2019 will offer a wealth of special events, forums and conferences staged by event organiser VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), its business partners and numerous exhibitors (the online calendar at EMO 2017 featured over 600 additional events).

The overall programme makes EMO 2019 an unrivalled networking and knowledge transfer get-together for production experts from all over the world.

Mr Welcker concluded: “We’re delighted to be hosting the world’s largest trade fair for production technology again. We’re expecting another mega-event that will boost business and that the industry will be talking about for a long time to come.”
