Key partners of Wellesbourne-based Engineering Technology Group (www.engtechgroup.com) — Chiron, Stama, Quaser, Nakamura Tone and Hardinge Bridgeport — will all be exhibiting at EMO 2019.

Unveiled for the first time in public will be new machining centres from Chiron, Stama and Scherer, as well as new automation solutions (Hall 12, Stand C06).

Also, making its public debut will be the new Chiron FZ 16 S five-axis machining centre with the VariocellPallet automation system, which enables the unmanned machining of small batches and complex workpieces.

It will be displayed in action at EMO 2019, having previously impressed visitors at a Chiron Open House event.

Marking its world premiere at EMO, the Chiron DZ 25 P five-axis machining centre is designed with the production of large automotive and aviation components in mind.

With the development of the 25 Series, Chiron is achieving a combination of productivity, precision and flexibility ‘never seen before in its class’.

With a spindle distance of 800mm, the DZ 25 P is suitable for the double-spindle machining of aluminium structural components. Capable of being loaded from two different sides, this compact mach-ne has a small footprint.

Stama continues to set industry benchmarks with its MT 7 and MT 8 systems, and it has been offering customers the MT 733 series since last September.

An update called the MT733 Oneplus will be launched at EMO.

Like all models in the MT 733 series, this has a gantry design that provides thermal and mechanical stability.

The Galaxie drive system in the B axis bolsters this effect with its extreme power density, stiffness and positioning precision.

The result is highly dynamic and highly precise milling/turning and drilling operations, along with simultaneous five-axis machining and integrated automation.

Scherer will be showing a selection of its industry-leading turning solutions, and taking centre stage will be the VDZ 320 multi-functional vertical pick-up turning machining centre.

This can be adapted to specific customer needs through a wide range of options, which include an extra milling spindle and special modules for ball turning and bearing track milling and hobbing.

Chiron’s portfolio of SmartLine software is due to be expanded this year also, with the inclusion of ConditionLine and ProtectLine — each able to be implemented individually or together.

ConditionLine enables the precise planning of maintenance work and repairs, with abnormal operating behaviour and wear detected in a timely manner.

ProtectLine makes use of a digital twin to prevent physical machining centres from colliding.

This digital twin is able to run ahead of its physical counterpart and shut the machine down, if it foresees a collision.
