Bolton-based Bindatex, a composites and advanced materials precision slitting specialist, has seen an increase in orders from the National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol over the last six months, thanks to its ability to turn orders round quickly and provide small volumes of slit tapes for R&D projects.

The company has been offering this service to the NCC for eight years, but until recently it only received a small number of orders per year.

“Bindatex managing director Chris Lever said: “The NCC was aware that we can slit and spool precision composite tapes, but we have been working more closely over the last year, as it realised the extent of our capabilities and that we could offer a much wider service.

“We are experts at taking development, non-standard and often challenging-to-cut materials and precision slitting them to extremely high tolerances. Moreover, our lead times are relatively short compared to typical industry norms.”
