Surrey-based Semmco (www.semmco.com), a manufacturer of access platforms and ground support equipment for the aviation sector, as well as rail access platforms, celebrated its Queen’s Award win earlier this month with a presentation at its Woking facility by the Duke of Kent.

The company won the award in recognition of its overseas sales in the past three years.

Operating in Europe, the Middle East, Australasia and the Americas, Semmco has opened two new facilities since 2017 — a maintenance and assembly facility in Dubai and an office and factory in Texas.

The international company’s customer base includes British Airways, Qantas, Delta, Easy Jet, First Capital Connect, Alstom, Rolls-Royce and JetBlue.

It has seen its overseas sales grow from 19% of total sales in 2015 to 40.5% in 2017 and 49% in 2018.

Semmco managing director Stuart McOnie said: “We are extremely proud to have received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

"It is an incredible achievement and one that has been possible because of the hard work and commitment from our staff and the support of our customers.

At the event, long-serving staff were presented with individual awards to mark the occasion and to thank them for their contribution to the company success.
