Superglass has completed the £37 million redevelopment of its Stirling factory — first announced in December 2017 — doubling its capacity to produce around 60,000 tonnes of glass wool insulation annually.
This included the installation of a ‘state of the art’ 187-tonne furnace and curing oven, plus cooling, cutting and milling equipment and an automatic packing system.
It will allow for continuous development and improvements in product quality and has been accompanied by a complete rebrand of the Superglass product, including new packaging.
The significant engineering and building works at the company’s site were carried out while the original production area continued to operate.
During the construction phase, Superglass reported its return to trading profit a year ahead of forecast, with revenues growing from £23.6 million in 2017 to £32.9 million in 2018 — a 39% increase.
In 2016, Superglass joined the Technonicol Group, which is the largest manufacturer of construction materials in Russia and Eastern Europe and has 56 manufacturing sites around Europe.
