Milton Keynes Pressings Ltd (MKP) — a supplier of metal pressings, welded assemblies and fine-limit sheet metal components to a variety of industries — has been awarded the 2019 Gold Award for the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP).
The awards system, set up by one of MKP’s key customers, was created as a certification programme to recognise suppliers who value its quality standard as a core element in their business.
To gain the Caterpillar Gold Award, MKP met a number of demanding performance standards, including on-time deliveries and product quality, as well as clearly demonstrating its commitment to implementing a culture of ‘zero defects’ and ensuring that the quality standards required to achieve it are maintained through all facets of the business.
MKP supplies pressings (
www.mkp.co.uk), welded fabrications and manual assemblies — in a variety of steel gauges and grades — to the Perkins Peterborough plant, which has the capacity to produce up to 500,000 engines a year.
Components from MKP are incorporated in the compact high-performance 400 Series engines, which are suitable for a wide range of off-highway applications.
