Mills CNC increases its five-axis range

Mills CNC increases its five-axis rangeMills CNC Ltd, the Leamington Spa-based distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland (www.millscnc.co.uk), recently introduced two new Doosan five-axis machining centres — the DVF 6500 (650mm-diameter table) and the larger capacity DVF 8000 (800mm-diameter table).

These offer simultaneous five-axis machining and are from the same stable as the Doosan DVF 5000 machine (launched in the UK and Ireland 18 months ago).

Both new machines are compact and have a rigid and stable structure, designed to ensure high levels of accuracy and surface finish — plus process reliability.

They offer 45m/min rapid-traverse rates and feature an oil-cooled direct-drive BT40 spindle rated at 22kW 18,000rev/min, a servo-driven automatic tool changer (up to 120 tools) with a 1.3sec tool-to-tool time, roller guideways and direct-drive rotary/tilting tables (A axis ±120deg; C axis 360deg).

The DVF 6500 and DVF 8000 can be supplied with a choice of control (Fanuc 31iB5, Heidenhain TNC640 or Siemens 840D with ShopMill software); they are also fitted with thermal-compensation systems (spindle and structure) and a long-life grease-based lubrication system.

A collision-protection system is available as an option, and both machines can be supplied with a range of automation solutions for increased productivity and unattended ‘lights out’ operations.

The DVF 6500 and DVF 8000 have work envelopes of 750 x 785 x 600mm and 1,000 x 900 x 685mm respectively, along with maximum table loads of 1,000kg and 1,400kg. Also available is the DVF 8000T (T for Turning).

This has the same technical specification as the DVF 8000 in most respects, except for a lighter maximum table load (700kg) and a faster C axis (600rev/min).
