Tech Projects appoints new general managerGateshead-based Tech Projects, a designer and manufacturer of stainless-steel conveyor systems, structural access and material-handling solutions, has appointed Michael Donachie to spearhead future growth.

The company is now under the ownership of Go 2 Engineering which has a portfolio of companies that together provide a one-stop engineering shop from design through to production and testing.

Tech Projects serves key industries including automotive, manufacturing, logistics, warehousing and food and drink processing, with specialist conveyor systems, stainless steel fabrication expertise and maintenance services.

Businesses can quickly access its repair and fabrication teams in order to minimise downtime and disruption to production.

Mr Donachie brings more than 30 years’ experience in manufacturing and engineering to his new role at Tech Projects. During this time he has delivered growth and strategies at a senior level and will oversee the company’s business growth plans as well as its sales and marketing strategy.

He has already set out a five-year growth plan, which includes expanding the company’s current customer base further afield of the North East and further building its presence in sectors such as the pharmaceutical and process industries.

Mr Donachie said: “I am excited by the opportunities this new role has given me to accelerate the growth of the company. Tech Projects is an established business which offers an array of specialist fabrication skills and due to the infrastructure on site and has high level manufacturing and engineering capabilities which can be further built upon.

“Being a part of the Go 2 Engineering Group has given us an overnight presence in the Midlands which has already benefitted one of our existing North East-based brewery customers, who also have a factory in the Midlands.

“Delivering projects as part of the group will both enhance Tech Projects’ national visibility and also provide our customers with further access to turnkey engineering solutions from a single source.”

Peter Dodd, Go 2 Engineering managing director said: “We are delighted with the appointment of Mr Donachie whose experience will help drive the growth of Tech Projects and also deliver opportunities to the group in the North East area.”

As part of the Go 2 Engineering Group, Tech Projects can draw on the complementary capabilities of NDT Equipment Supplies, CV Precision Engineering and Brandon Engineering to offer a wide range of engineering services to industry, including NDT products and equipment, hydraulic fixtures, manual fixtures and a comprehensive range of milling and turning machinery.

The company has also designed, manufactured and installed a number of screens at its customers premises to support safe-working practices in relation to Covid-19. It has also recently developed a hand sanitising unit on wheels which means it can be easily transported around facilities, helping to reduce and manage downtime while employees include more-rigorous sanitising and hygiene into their regime.
