Laser 24 installs new Bystronic 12kW fibre laserEssex-based Laser 24, a leading laser cutting sub-contractor based in Wickford, commissioned a brand new Bystronic ByStar Fiber 12kW last month, as part of an ongoing investment project to provide unrivalled production capabilities for its customers.

One of the most powerful lasers on the market, the Bystronic ByStar Fiber 12kW will transform production at Laser 24, resulting in a higher quality finish while offering great cost-savings for its customers. Boosted by 12kW of laser power, each cut is faster, cleaner and more cost-effective than ever before, with cutting speeds up to 20% faster than its 10kW predecessor.

Without compromise, the high-performance equipment effortlessly cuts mild and stainless steel up to 30mm, aluminium up to 30mm, brass up to 15mm and copper up to 12mm, while its innovative ‘BeamShaper’ technology guarantees a clean-cut edge on a wide variety of metals – a feat that is not easily achieved on thick metals by fibre-laser cutting.

This marks the second milestone investment by Laser 24 in less than two years as it strives to continually improve production processes and capabilities for its customers while reducing energy consumption, — the company installed its first Bystronic ByStar 10kW Fiber laser in April 2019.

The ByStar 12kW completes Laser 24’s current line-up that includes the Bystronic ByStar 10kW Fiber laser, a Bystronic Xpert 80 press brake and a Bystronic ByTrans extended automation solution.

Laser 24Iain Summerfield, director at Laser 24, said: “The laser cutting industry has completely changed since I began my journey nearly 20 years ago. I believe that, by introducing our very latest machine, we have the best configuration to handle the laser cutting needs of not only our current customers, but future customer requirements as well.

“I know we have invested in the right equipment to ensure the highest quality laser cut parts in all thicknesses up to 30mm thick. This was impossible only a few short years ago and I am proud that Laser 24 can now offer this.

“Exceeding our customer’s expectations has always been the driving force for any investment decisions. To have the ability to cut up to 30mm thick mild steel with a superior edge quality allows our customers to reduce their own costs by removing secondary operations from their production line.

“By investing in our technology and expertise we are future proofing Laser 24 to handle any size project by producing superior quality parts by the best team.”

This advancement in Laser 24 production capabilities will significantly reduce lead times and operational costs, while providing more capacity for customer projects.
