The Bulgarian shipbuilding company MTG Dolphin plc has placed an order with Pemamek — a Finnish welding automation company — for an automated PEMA welding system that comprises a PEMA flat panel line with two integrated welding portals, a side welding station and a panel transport system.

The large-scale investment in the PEMA system will bring significant improvements to MTG Dolphin’s vessel-manufacturing processes. The line’s automated technology reduces manual work, resulting in a high-quality final product. Moreover, production capacity is increased, thanks to the system’s optimised plate-joining and stiffener-welding processes.

Kliment Velinov, Dolphin’s sales manager, said: “Pemamek offered the best solution for our needs and was supportive during the whole decision-making process. We made our final decision following the interactive online welding demonstrations and subsequent online meetings, which gave us all the information we needed.”

The contract also covers annual maintenance, updates and remote support. The automated system will be delivered and ready for production during spring 2022.
