B&P Fabrications (Leicester) Ltd has recently upgraded its high-pressure nitrogen generation system with a ‘state of the art‘ MSS Nitrocube 7.

Having successfully grown its business over recent years following the acquisition of new laser cutting equipment, a modern nitrogen system was required to keep the machines running smoothly. The firm’s existing MSS Nitro-cube system had given many years of reliable supply so it was a natural step for B&P to turn to Rugby-based MSS Lasers for advice on a suitable upgrade solution.

B&P managing director Chris Fenwick said: “The old nitrogen system has given us excellent service but we needed to increase our nitrogen capacity. However, as factory space is restricted, we needed a high-output solution with minimal footprint and maximum storage capacity.”

MSS recommended its Nitrocube 7 system, a dual-generation system that provides 100m3 nitrogen/hr; this is combined with multiple bundled high-pressure storage with capacity of 2,300m3 at 300 bar. The new system provides high-pressure nitrogen at 99.98% purity which is an ideal assist gas for all general laser cutting work. The latest generation Nitrocube is very efficient, using 25-40% less energy to generate higher purity nitrogen than the older system.

powerful dual Nitrocube technology

The Nitrocube 7 supplied to B&P is one of the highest output systems installed in the UK to date and features very powerful dual Nitrocube technology to ensure that in the event of a breakdown or system outage, the company will still have 50% of the system operational. The new system also features a unique touchscreen control panel developed by MSS that offers remote system performance analysis and status monitoring.

Mr Fenwick added: “The installation went extremely well; MSS planned all aspects of the work to minimise disruption and got us back working very quickly. On-site nitrogen generation works very well for B&P as it gives us control over our supply and also helps with our push to reduce our carbon footprint.”

MSS sales director Chris Smith said: “This was a challenging installation and I am very pleased how well it went — we were able to provide B&P with a very cost-effective rental option that allowed the company to upgrade its old system without any significant impact on its current capital budget.”

He concluded: “The latest generation MSS Nitrocube is the most compact and flexible system available and we have already installed over 400 systems like this in the UK. Sales of the Nitrocube 7 are also growing quickly in a number of important export markets as well. This latest product incorporates all we have learnt from high-pressure nitrogen systems for laser cutting applications over the last 20 years.”
