Bradford-based
Bowers Group’s technical engineering apprentice Aman Athwal has been awarded Apprentice of the Year in the category of Engineering and Manufacturing at this year’s West Yorkshire Apprenticeship awards, held at Bradford City Football Club on 9 June.
The ceremony was hosted by journalist and broadcaster Harry Gration and Harpreet Kaur, winner of the BBC’s
The Apprentice 2022.
Aman said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year and am really proud to have bought this award home both for the company and my family, who I know are proud of me. I have gone above and beyond at Bowers Group and it is great to have that recognised.”
Since the start of his apprenticeship, Aman has been a fantastic addition to the team in Bradford, and an integral part of the success of the new digital external micrometer, the DigiMic. He is dedicated to his studies as an apprentice and has completed no less than four engineering qualifications in his time at the company. In addition, he has been a driving force behind numerous ideas to improve health and safety, as well as charity work.
Bowers Group training and recruitment manager John Crabtree said: “We are extremely proud of Aman and wish him many congratulations on this fantastic achievement. He is a credit to the business, and a fantastic example of how valuable apprenticeships are not only to the younger generation, but to many businesses across the region.”
