Whether a manufacturing company is involved in mechanical/production or electronic/electrical engineering, or even both,
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2023 will be an important destination to look for ways to strengthen order books, find new business opportunities or simply come away with fresh ideas. It takes place from 7-9 February at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre and the organisers say it is a sell-out again as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The exhibition is not just a showcase for industry and engineering in the UK and Ireland, but also for companies from Europe and further afield. Bringing together under one roof the best exponents in multiple engineering disciplines operating at the forefront of their respective technologies gives the event a character that is distinctive, if not unique.
There is no demarcation between the different areas, allowing visitors to walk freely between stands and perhaps discover things that they were not expecting to see at the outset. Furthermore, companies with similar expertise are grouped together, allowing technology trails to guide visitors logically around the show.
Around 600 firms will highlight their products and services, including machine tools and tooling, workholding systems, metrology equipment, finishing machines, laser cutting and marking equipment, Industry 4.0 solutions, controls, displays, HMIs, data acquisition systems, collaborative robot machine tending and other automation solutions. Suppliers of 3-D printing machines and consumables, production and planning aids, and engineering and business software will likewise show what they can offer, as will a host of firms offering sub-contracting services.
There will be an enormous variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic, electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components and assemblies, as well as such items as drives, rotary encoders, linear scales, sensors, fasteners, pressings, wire forms, springs, plastic and rubber mouldings, gaskets, and more. Surface mount technology, PCB manufacture and assembly, cables, connectors, and test and inspection systems will form a big part of what is being offered by the electronics contingent.
Other diverse and no less essential products and services will encompass oil and coolant supply, workshop equipment, dust and fume extraction, humidity control, workplace storage systems, bespoke case and foam manufacture, plastic packaging and injection moulding, hand tools, adhesives, industrial flooring, waste removal and recycling, training, freight services and financial consultancy.
Alongside the exhibition, a technical seminar programme will give visitors and exhibitors alike valuable learning opportunities, with a particular focus on technical, managerial and environmental issues. There will be the customary
AutoAero theme running through the show, devoted to aerospace and automotive engineering.
