Swedish bearings and seal manufacturer SKF has appointed
Apex Auctions and
Liquidity Services to handle the disposal of its Avallon, France-based manufacturing site’s assets following the announcement of the Swedish manufacturer’s plans to consolidate and restructure its operations in France.
Headquartered in the UK, Apex Auctions works with businesses on a global stage to maximise revenue through the disposal of surplus assets and will oversee the online sale of the facility, including the plant and equipment from SKF’s base in Avallon.
The Avallon plant, which manufactured slewing bearings, will see operations transfer to another site at St-Cyr-sur-Loire. As a result, a variety of manufacturing and engineering equipment, such as CNC, gear, frilling, grinding and turning machines, along with heat treatment and other machinery, is available for purchase.
The auction, which ends on 25 May 2023 at 14:00 BST, features a range of items for sale, with starting bids from €100. Some of the lots available include: Carnaghi AS65 vertical turning and grinding CNC centre; an SPMO 3663 vertical lathe; an GPM Titan TVB 4500/5250 vertical lathe;
a Liebherr LS2000 gear hobbing machine with knife tool; and a RFH 30S/NC Schiess gear hobbing machine.
Following an increase in enquiries from the Middle East and Asia for second-hand machinery, bids are particularly being welcomed from manufacturing and engineering businesses in Turkey, India and Bangladesh. Combined with the rising cost of new equipment and supply chain delays, the online auction, along with the logistics of transporting the equipment, allows companies to expand their plant stock at a fraction of the cost of purchasing new.
Kevin Brooker, COO of Apex Auctions, said: “We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to purchase such a wealth of stock and equipment following the unfortunate closure of SKF’s Avallon factory. Online auctions are a great way for businesses to save costs while expanding or updating their equipment, and this is a fantastic opportunity for both well-established and start-up organisations to really enhance its offering for its customers.”
