Optimax awarded ISO 10360 Part 7 for CNC video measuring machines

Optimax awarded ISO 10360 Part 7 for CNC video measuring machinesMarket Harborough-based Optimax IIM Ltd, an optical inspection and non-contact measurement specialist, is also a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited laboratory (registered No 8672), and provides service and calibration for measuring instruments under the umbrella standard ISO 17025 covering microscopes, profile projectors, height gauges, tool makers Scopes and ISO 10360-7 for automated video-based measuring systems.

The original ISO 10360-2 is a globally recognised standard for the calibration of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) but for optical vision systems, something new was required as there was no standard to benchmark them against.

For Optimax, a vision measurement specialist, this was a real problem. When Part 7 was added to the ISO10360 standard, the company worked closely with UKAS to become the first company in the UK to become accredited to ISO 10360-7 which specifically addresses cartesian CMM structures with optical probes.

First company in the UK to gain approval

Optimax managing director Pete Clements said: “We were the first company in the UK to gain approval and we still offer the lowest levels of uncertainty in the marketplace which we are very proud of. As a result of this accreditation, we can offer competitively priced instrument calibration for both optical measuring and tactile measuring systems, traceable to international standards.”

“Specialists in optical metrology calibration is just the start, our engineers are factory trained, providing repairs, service, and upgrades in addition to core calibration activity. This service is available to both existing and new instrument users, irrespective of make and we can create a tailored support package to suit budgets and an instrument-operating environment.”

He continued: “UKAS-accredited certification is the standard, when you place a calibration order with Optimax — all our engineers are externally audited and approved UKAS operatives, ensuring consistently high standards. Our accredited quality systems and methods are also externally audited and verified. We also have a large support department with a team of engineers, support advisors, administrators, quality, and technical management, dedicated to delivering product support, this provides customers with confidence and clarity in the performance of their measuring equipment and the validity of results.’

The full range of services offered by Optimax include: annual maintenance contracts; service and calibration of vision systems; CMMs (co-ordinate measuring systems); service and calibration of microscopes; preventive maintenance; updated regular knowledge transfer; latest software releases; accessories; and product updates.
