Essentra plc, a leading UK-based international provider of essential components and solutions, has opened a new manufacturing and distribution hub in Monterrey, Mexico, a move designed to increase production capacity for existing customers in North America, and to also grow its customer base in Mexico and Latin America.
The new facility is part of an ongoing investment by Essentra to further extend its global manufacturing footprint to reflect the increasingly multinational needs of customers who need to be reassured of the quality of the product, consistency of service and timeliness of delivery wherever they are in the world.
Built to Essentra’s design, the facility occupies a site of almost 130,000ft
2 on 274,000ft
2 of land with permission for future site development. Manufacturing will start with production of the Micro, Innovative and Richco lines, with the capacity ultimately to deliver many thousands of different part numbers from the one site.
The new, modern offices will be home to 70 employees from the beginning with plans to expand this number to more than 200 responsible for processing thousands of shipments every day of products manufactured by the latest, energy-efficient, ‘state of the art’ injection moulding technology.
Cyndi Johns, vice president of customer supply chain, says that the facility is being opened to better serve current and future customers. He added: “Proximity and a hassle-free service are very important,” she says, “and this new site will not only further strengthen existing relationships but also give scope for significant future growth in the Americas.”
Last year, Essentra opened a new European distribution hub in Poland, and more recently created a new Centre of Excellence at its global headquarters in Oxfordshire.
