Mazak declares BIEMH show a ‘major success’The Integrex i-450H was another popular machine on the Intermaher stand at BIEMH 2024

Strong levels of enquiries and a high visitor turnout have led Yamazaki Mazak and its Spanish representative Intermaher to declare the recent BIEMH trade show in Bilbao a major success.

Mazak and Intermaher showcased five machines at the exhibition, including the UK-built CV5-500 five-axis machining centre and a QTE-300 turning centre, both of which were exhibited with turnkey robot machine tending solutions.

Stand visitors were particularly drawn to the Integrex i-450H, one of the larger models from Mazak’s flagship multi-tasking range that combines turning and B-axis milling in one machine. Also catching the eye was the Variaxis i-800 NEO. Designed to deliver a carbon footprint 22.7% lower than its predecessor over the course of its operational life, the machine reflects Mazak’s increased commitment towards environment-friendly manufacturing.

Another on-stand highlight was the FSW-460V hybrid machine that combines machining with friction stir welding technology within the same machining envelope. The FSW, which recently received the Grand Prix award at Mach-Tech in Hungary, is ideal for high-volume manufacturing environments, including the electric vehicle (EV), semi-conductor and heat transfer sectors.
Over the course of the five-day show, 38,000 visitors attended, with exceptionally large numbers visiting the Intermaher-Mazak stand. This resulted in a good volume of machine enquiries for Intermaher.

Alan Mucklow, managing director UK, Eire and national distributors at Yamazaki Mazak, said the Spanish market is very important to the company. “Spain is a key market for Mazak with strong aerospace and automotive sectors. We are fortunate to have an exceptional distributor in Intermaher who understand our machines, the dynamics of the market and can provide all of the aftersales and applications support that our customers require.”

Jose Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina, managing director at Intermaher, said: ““BIEMH was a major success for both Intermaher and Mazak providing a further boost to both organisations. We took a range of machines and automation equipment to the show that demonstrated the strength of Mazak’s machine portfolio, commitment to innovation and the constant drive to help our customers boost productivity and profitability.”
