KTM’s long-standing co-operation with Reading-based
PTC, a world-leading software company that enables industrial and manufacturing companies to optimise the way they design, manufacture and maintain physical products. PTC aims to centralise and optimise the KTM’s engineering processes in both hardware and software development.
Two existing systems will be replaced with Codebeamer, initially for E/E and ePowerpack systems to improve cross-functional collaboration and accelerate the time to market for newly developed products. In a second step, KTM plans to extend the new ALM solution to cover complete vehicles, making it a key component in its design and development processes.
A spokesperson for the company said: “KTM’s goal is to maintain and continuously expand our leading position in motorbike development. To achieve this, it is sometimes crucial to bring high-quality innovations to the market faster and the integration of Codebeamer into our workflows will help us to achieve this by implementing highly efficient development processes.”
The introduction of the software is intended to further optimise internal collaboration by providing a uniformed platform for product and software development. This eliminates the need for internal data exchange between different systems and should significantly increase the speed and quality of project implementation.
Christoph Bräuchle, senior vice president and general manager of PTC’s ALM segment, concluded “This deal reinforces our strategy to accelerate digital transformation in the dynamic automotive industry. It gives us special motivation to deploy our solution to support KTM in the development of its fascinating and innovative products.”
