Turkey’s national railway, TCDD, has placed an order for seven Velaro high-speed train sets from Siemens.
The contract, which includes seven years of maintenance by the manufacturer, is worth 285 million euros. Jochen Eickholt, CEO of Siemens’ Rail Systems Division, said the Turkish contract marked its entry into a promising growth market.
The Velaro train sets are to be used on the Ankara-Konya high-speed line, as well as the Ankara-Istanbul route, which is being upgraded.
