Unison appoints new sales directorScarborough-based Unison Ltd, the inventor of ultra-precise, all-electric tube manipulation, has promoted Steve Chambers to the position of sales director. Formerly the company’s sales projects manager, he joined the business in 2002 as a CNC machinist, producing parts for Unison’s tube-bending machines as well as tooling and consumables. Following a move to the design team, he went on to develop and run the company’s machine shop, before progressing into project management, and moving into sales in 2018. He will take responsibility for developing Unison’s UK and international customer base, as well as formulating sales strategies with the company’s North American division, Unison Tube LLC.

Mr Chambers said: “I am looking forward immensely to helping Unison build a strong team for the future and continuing to lead the field through innovative tube and pipe bending technologies and associated products. Having risen through the ranks, as you might say, I know every aspect of the business intimately and will use my knowledge for the benefit of Unison and its global customer base.”

Alan Pickering, Unison’s joint managing director, added: “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the Unison board. Steve has more than proved his worth over the years, more latterly as a key member of our sales management team. With his unrivalled expertise, valuable market insight and in-depth understanding of each customer’s manufacturing requirements, he is the perfect individual to help us plan the next phases of our company’s growth. He is also living proof that at Unison there are genuine opportunities for career progression – right up to director level.”

Unison is the UK’s leading manufacturer of tube and pipe bending machines and continually innovates the tube and pipe bending marketplace. The company manufactured the world’s first all-electric tube bender in 1994, followed by the world’s first all-electric multi-stack tube bender, then the world’s largest all-electric tube bender for the shipbuilding industry.

Available in single-stack, multi-stack and right/left varieties, Unison machines are delivered to more than 20 countries globally. Unison’s tube-bending software is recognised as the most user-friendly control system for tube bending machines. The software is written and supported by Unison, ensuring complete control of its evolution, with no need for third party support.
