, Peel 3D has introduced Peel.OS 2.0, the latest software iteration for its portable 3-D scanners.
The new version incorporates Peel.CAD functions that create a seamless scan-to-CAD workflow within one platform, thereby eliminating the need to export scan data to external software. This development extends Peel.OS’s capabilities beyond ‘heritage preservation’, AR/VR (augmented reality/virtual reality), and healthcare into ‘more technical sectors’.
Key upgrades in Peel.OS 2.0 include: Unified Workflow (this combines ‘Align’ and ‘Improve’ steps for Peel.CAD users, all within a single software); improved Merge Options (for the easy deletion of unnecessary scans); and Express Texture algorithms (for significantly reduced colour processing time).
Also included are: enhanced Export Capabilities (these allows users to retain only Peel.CAD modifications for a leaner session file); and Customisable Interface (this offers dockable toolbars and 3-D mouse support for improved usability).
Jerome-Alexandre Lavoie, Creaform’s director of product management, said: “With no increase in cost, Peel.OS 2.0 provides added value to users; and by consolidating Peel.CAD into one platform, Peel 3D reinforces its leadership in entry-level 3-D scanning solutions, ensuring our technology remains unmatched by competitors.”
Having been involved in 3-D scanning since 2002, Peel 3D (P3D.com) has developed extensive experience and a proven track record in 3-D measurement technologies. The company is backed by Creaform, a world leader in 3-D measurement technology that is headquartered in Lévis (Québec, Canada), is present in more than 85 countries through its 26 locations around the world, and has a network of over 100 distributors.
