The Spanish machine tool builder
Bost closed 2024 with a ‘particularly notable project’ — the design and manufacture of the heavy duty VTL 62 CY 6000 Aero Premium vertical lathe. Destined for Airbus Defence and Space’s Getafe plant, this massive machine reinforces Bost’s position as a major player in the aerospace sector and ‘consolidates its participation in the Ariane 6 space launcher programme’.
This new vertical lathe, developed specifically to meet the demands of the aerospace industry, combines ‘precision, robustness and versatility’. This machine joins a series of ‘advanced manufacturing solutions’ that Bost has supplied to both the ArianeGroup and its key suppliers in France and makes a significant contribution to the production of critical components for the European Ariane 6 launcher.
The VTL 62 CY 6000 Aero Premium ‘represents Bost’s support for high-impact projects’ such as the Ariane 6 programme, which is a key initiative for the development of European space capabilities. This programme, which is led by ArianeGroup, aims to consolidate Europe as a benchmark in the launch of commercial satellites and ‘institutional space missions’.
Bost says this massive vertical lathe is the result of a joint effort in advanced engineering specifically designed to meet the ‘demanding requirements of precision and reliability that characterise the manufacture of aerospace components’.
In addition to the VTL 62 CY 6000 Aero Premium, Bost has supplied several further machines for the manufacture of key components for the Ariane 6 programme, adding that the success of this project reflects the company’s accumulated experience in developing advanced manufacturing solutions for ‘highly demanding industries such as aerospace’.
