Desoutter expands ePULSE range with latest fastening pistolIndustrial assembly tools manufacturer Desoutter Tools has expanded its ePULSE Battery platform with the BLRTC080 pistol nutrunner for automotive, aerospace, heavy vehicle and general industrial applications.

ePULSE, Desoutter’s fully electric pulse tightening system, uses oil-free gearbox technology and patented pulse control to deliver reaction-free fastening, improved process stability and reduced maintenance requirements.

The BLRTC080 further strengthens the ePULSE Battery portfolio, extending the benefits of Desoutter's oil-free electric pulse technology to a broader range of tightening applications. Unlike conventional oil pulse tools that require oil maintenance, the gearbox design helps reduce servicing requirements, improve long-term reliability and lower the total cost of ownership.

The BLRTC080 is engineered for tightening applications between 40 and 80Nm, combining electric pulse tightening technology with compact, one-handed operation to support productive, reaction-free fastening. The result is a solution that helps reduce operator fatigue in repetitive assembly tasks while lowering the maintenance burden associated with high-torque tightening.

At the core of the tool is Desoutter’s patented DynaPULSE technology, which waits for the gearbox rebound to fully settle before initiating the next pulse. By ensuring the system is fully stabilised before each tightening pulse, the technology supports reliable tightening performance while reducing mechanical stress within the fastening process.

Designed to address tightening variability in modern assembly, the BLRTC080 incorporates configurable Progressive Pulse functionality, allowing pulse behaviour to be adapted for both hard and soft joint conditions. This enables manufacturers to standardise tightening across multiple applications while maintaining consistent fastening results and reducing the need to manage separate tool strategies for different joint types.

Alongside its reduced maintenance requirements, the BLRTC080 is designed for easy deployment and integration into connected manufacturing environments. RFID functionality enables contactless pairing and simplified tool setup, while compatibility with Desoutter's Connect range and CVI3 Vision controller supports seamless integration with existing assembly processes and quality control systems.

The BLRTC080 joins the existing EABCLRT110 within the ePULSE Battery range, extending coverage for high-torque fastening applications from 40 to 110Nm. Together, the tools form a unified electric pulse platform designed to support a wide range of industrial assembly requirements, while helping manufacturers move away from maintenance-intensive pulse fastening technologies.

As with the wider ePULSE Battery range, ergonomics remain central to the design. Reaction-free tightening removes the need for reaction arms in applications up to 80Nm, while Desoutter’s ErgoShield gearbox helps reduce vibration and pulse duration to improve operator comfort during extended use.
