STL targets 20% European sales growthRedditch-based Samuel Taylor Ltd (STL), one of the UK’s leading specialists in bi-metal bonding and precision stamping for the electrical contact market — is targetting a 20% increase in European-wide sales by capitalising on its rich global trading heritage. Over the course of the next few months, STL representatives will embark on multiple visits throughout the European Union (EU) encompassing countries such as France and Germany, with a presence at industry-leading global expos and visiting customers old and new within sectors such as rail, automotive, defence, and mobile/off-grid power solutions.

For a second year running, STL will also be part of the UK pavillion at The Battery Show Europe 2025 in Stuttgart. The event will run from the 3 to 5 June, showcasing the latest in Government-backed advanced automotive battery technologies and manufacturing processes to the EU. In addition, STL will be present at the SIFER Expo in France from the 24-26 June, the country’s only international event dedicated to rail, bringing together suppliers and manufacturers with the market’s top buyers.

Robert Gordon, managing director at STL, said: “85% of STL products are directly sent outside of the UK, which sees us supply bi-metal and precision stamped components to over 26 countries worldwide, including Europe, the USA, China and the Middle East. Customers trust us as a global partner that can deliver their exacting requirements due to our rich engineering and experienced, efficient logistics team.”

International sales traditions

STL’s international sales tradition has previously been acknowledged by The Sunday Times as part of its International Track 100 league table which ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies according to the level of their international sales, with the minimum sales threshold having just been increased from £5 million to £25 million.

Mr Gordon continued: “We are proud to be returning to represent the UK at The Battery Show Europe and welcome new conversations, following a successful event last year. Europe accounts for almost 40% of our trade and we are privileged to have many long-standing customers and partners within the EU. Much is currently being said in the media regarding the UK becoming a more desirable manufacturing partner or serving as a distribution hub for goods entering the EU from outside due to lower tariffs than those imposed on other nations.”

He concluded: “However, at STL we have always found that our openness to international trade, attention to detail regarding local customs, willingness to go the extra mile in building long-term partnerships and our expertise in global logistics, has meant that we have been a partner of choice for decades for bi-metal bonding and precision stamping within the electrical contact market. We look forward to conversations regarding how we can continue to do so at the upcoming events and customer visits over the next few months.”
